Document setup:
Front Cover:
when setting up my document for my front cover I first went onto Photoshop and clicked 'file' and then 'new' so i could open up a new blank document
Next this popped up on my screen and I changed it to 'international paper' and clicked 'Ok' so that my blank document would be the size of an A4 piece of paper
Next this popped up on my screen, which is an A4 bland document so this means that I can start making my magazine over.
Double page spread page setup
To set up my double page spread i opened up an 'new' blank document
Then i changed the page settings for the double page spread and changed the Width to -297 and the height of the paper to-210, so that this page is the right size for a double page spread.

Codes and conventions:
I have chosen to use this masthead since the font is bold and will attract the readers eye and prompt them to read our magazine, whilst also making sure it matched our colour scheme but is still eye catching. Along with the font chosen for the mast head, i chose to go with the 'viridian college' font for the coverless of the magazine, as i felt that it went well with the font used for the masthead whilst also being bold, but not too bold that it draws the attention away from the masthead. The central image used is of our main featured artist as they are the main focus and I felt that this image portrays them positively whilst also giving our target audience another reason to buy our magazine as they are interested by the artist on the front cover. Although our cover model isn't a celebrity our magazine wants to showcase these undiscovered artists and attract a target market who would want to know more about and listen to these artists.
I went with a colour scheme of black, blue, purple, yellow and a salmon colour since I felt that these muted but bold colours fit with the chosen genre for the magazine. The barcode was placed at the bottom corner of the magazine since that fits the conventions of a magazine as it is where they are usually placed. I've also followed a magazines codes and conventions by having the issue number, date and a puff, as these all help to inform the reader and potential buyers which issue this is and how up to date it is (by looking at the time) as they may be looking for an older or newer issue.
Costume-
When deciding on what I wanted the artists to wear I got them to wear their own clothes but to dress smart casual as we want to show case these artists for who they are, so we need to include these artists style to really be able show our target readers who these artists are. one of our artists wore a goodie and a plaid shirt, whilst the other music artist wore a blue shirt and his school bag.
The facial expression our music artists did are more of a slight smile on the front cover to create a sense of positivity and joy, giving a good impression of these artists. On the double page-spread the facial expressions of the featured artists were more serious to show that they are serious about their music and are serious artists.
Evidence of me taking the photos and setting up equipment-
Thumbnails of Photos I took:
Photos
(used for magazine):
I decided to use this photo of my featured artist as I wanted the focus of the front cover to be the artist, I thought that this photo of my artist was the best choice for my front cover as I though it got across a calm, happy but cool and relaxed mood as the artists facial expressions are happy but he seems relaxed. Another reason I chose to us this photo is because I liked the background of the photo and wanted to use it in my front cover as I think it fit the whole North London Street feel and is ascetically pleasing
The photo I used for double page spread is of both band members stood in front of a brick wall, I chose top use this photo as the background gave the photo an edgy feel to it which fit the Indie genre and the overall mood I was going for. Again I used the artists being featured as the main photo, as i wanted them to be the main focus of the double page spread so help promote them. The colour palette I will be using for my magazine is mainly a baby blue, a baby yellow, black, white and blue. I have chosen to use pale light colours as I was inspired by my mood board since they use a lot of muted colours and still have a calm but edgy feel to it, which i am trying to achieve in my magazine and i believe these muted colours have calm connotations to it an fit the Indie genre. The red will be used as little accents, for example as a border around our featured musician as i still want my magazine to have an edgy feel to it, which i believe can be achieved through harsher colours. Whilst the which and black will be used in the background to draw more attention to the main picture to the artists and body copy, instead on the background.

What inspires you to write music?
All our music is about our past experiences and struggles we’ve faced like our last song “painkiller” which is about how people like to suppress emotional pain instead of dealing with it, I think its interesting how we deal with how we feel and I've just found that music is my outlet and how i vent . Whenever one of us finds a tune we cant get out of our heads we go straight to the studio and play around with it and create music.
How did you two become the band Scorpio?
Well we created our band Scorpio when we were fifteen and living in North London, back then we were still in school and only knew basic guitar, but were both very passionate about music and decided to start writing and making music since we both took music GCSE and everything just progressed from there, since we both really enjoyed working together.
Our upcoming artists
The artists being featured are the band Scorpio. Which is a North London indie band that started 4 years ago by the two young artists Jamie Grey and Sky Jenkins as they both found they had a passion to create and play music. Scorpio has also released a new single called “painkiller” which can be found on the Spotify playlist.

Why I chose my body-copy
I decided to go with this body copy as I didn't want to overload the double page spread with too much information so that the reader focuses of the main picture of the featured artists and doesn't accidentally dismiss it since their faces would be covered in text, which would wouldn't be very useful since one of our goals is to raise awareness and help new upcoming artists in North London by getting their name known.
Another thing I did was to use more informal language compared to using very formal language since my target audience are 15-19 year old, meaning that they are relatively young so using very formal wouldn't appeal to them as formal language appeals more to an older audience of a high class/social grade. The language used in my body copy is very casual since this is the type of language my target audience uses daily so the language i am using will appeal to them as they can relate to it.
I chose to include in my body copy information about the indie genre so that i can inform my customer and teach them about the genre, I also chose to include an interview in my body copy as this helps the customer reading get to more about the artists being featured as again one of our aims is to promote these artists whilst also promoting our own magazine. The importance of including an interview in my body copy is that on our front cover is our artists so they are our main focus of the magazine and one of the main reasons the customer chose to buy the magazine (other than the USP) so including an interview helps them to get to know the music artists artists.
Another thing included in my body copy is a competition and a chance for the customers to win, I chose to include information about this in my body copy as the competition was advertised on the front cover so the details of it they can find inside, it is also featured on this specific page of the magazine is because this double page spread is about the artists which are also involved in the competition so it goes hand in hand.
The final thing included in my body copy is how to dress Indie, I included this as it appeals to my target audience as they enjoy and like the Indie genre, so showing them how to dress Indie will definitively appeal to them as they want to to be Indie. By including this it also gives us another form of revenue as we can get companies like the featured clothing stores to pay us to include their company name or to promote them in our magazine, as long as its relevant to the Indie genre.
