Power point

Classfeedback-

  • Who will be running and organising the Spotify playlist
  • Do you think £2.50 if enough for a magazine to sell at and still make a profit due to costs
  • You might want to research NME as a competitor
  • Have you thought about how you're actually going to market online
  • Why is your main target audience female
  • Have you got a specific subgenera in mind or just indie
  • I think you need to think about your powerpoint as it isn't very visually appealing
Updated Powerpoint

These are the changes I have made to my power point:
-the first change I have made to my powerpoint was to change the background of each slide to make it fit the mood of my magazine as before it didn't fit the indie genre but now the darker edgier background fits the colour scheme of my magazine, furthermore I was told my powerpoint wasn't very visually appealing so by changing the background I will making it more visually appealing and interesting for my client
-Another change I made to my powerpoint was that I added in more photos of artists instruments and other relevant images to each slide so make the presentation more visually appealing for the client because my previous presentation didn't have many relevant images in it and seemed boring but by adding more images it gives the client a feel of what the magazine will look like whilst also making it more visually appealing
-The last change I made to my powerpoint was that I reduced the amount of writing on each slide and made sure to only keep the most important points which I would expand on in my presentation, so that if the client got confused or misheard anything important it would be on the slides for them to look back of, also and forgotten information is right infant of them for the client to look back on

Potential Client Questions
  1. Who will be organizing the spotify playlist- I see how the client thinks this is important to have planned out. We will be using collage students and interns to lower the costs. When dealing with the spotify playlist we will get our interns to put it together as the are likely to be collage students and closer to the age of our target audience, so they will have a better idea of which songs will appeal to our target audience more, whilst also saving us money as interns or students looking for work experience will work for free.
  2.  Don’t you think £2 and £2.50 is a bit cheap for your magazine as I don’t think £2.50 is enough to make a big profit so you might want to raise that-  I understand that the client thinks the price of the magazine should be higher, I wanted to make sure that my magazine was affordable for a younger audience which is why my price is low. Although I do see how raising my price would benefit my magazine as I would make more revenue will I can use to market and hire more personnel, so i will raise my price of the magazine to £3.50 for my print copy and £3 for my online magazine and still keep it in an affordable price range for our target audience, by doing this we will make more money and be able to release magazines of better quality.
  3.  In your distribution are you not distributing your magazine online? – I understand why it is important to specify this to the client and yes I will be distributing my magazine online. Our target customers will access the online magazine through our website online, where they will go to purchase the online version of the magazine.
  4.  So how will you be marketing? Will it be paid advertisement – most of our marketing will be from the artists we are promoting to feature us on their social media platform as this is free advertisement and will save money, but we will be having paid advertisements on Spotify as this will reach our target audience quite effectively and also be promoting on our own social media accounts as again it saves us money and we could generate a large following resulting in more people seeing our posts.
  5.  Have you got a sub genre in mind?- no not really I wanted to keep the genre more broad so that i can appeal to a wider audience and it also makes it easier to find indie artists to feature because focusing too much on a sub-genre will really narrow our target audience and how many people would be willing to buy it and in the long run wouldn't make us as much money as less people will want to buy it. I will not be acting upon this feed back as i believe focusing on a specific indie sub-genre won't benefit the magazine and instead make us less money.
  6. Why is your main target audience female? since Indie is a very broad genre so you might want to broaden your target audience to males and females- i can see why the client would bring this up and i originally thought that Indie was a more female orientated genre but now I do see why i should broaden my target audience and will make this change as Indie is a very broad genre, so it will appeal to a wider target audience, so it is important that i change this.
  7. I also think that you should include more ethnicity and races in your target audience- I agree although i was originally going to target Caucasians, it will benefit a new company starting up to target a larger market as then we'll have less of a niche market which wouldn't of worked with our magazine anyway as we wanted to make it affordable and would make it harder for our magazine to make money since it is affordable and targets a niche market.
