Front cover

One of the strengths of the from cover of my magazine is that I have a colour scheme which I used throughout my magazine, the positive of doing this is that it will make our magazine brand more recognisable to our customers as whenever they will see these colours they will automatically relate it to our magazine. Another strength of having a colour scheme is that it help us build a house style for Reverb magazine as the colour scheme will be part of our house style which will eventually help us build our brand recognition, which is very important as customers like to buy front well known magazines as they are trusted by the public so by having a consistent colour scheme it will overall help gain awareness and also customers like consistency as they will always associate us with those colours which will make our target audience more comfortable with our magazine.

Another strength of my front cover is the cover-lines, this is a strength of my magazine because it refers to North London which comply with our client brief, whilst also relating to our customers as they are from North London so they can relate to the magazine more. Our cover-lines mention competitions, free playlists and exclusive interviews, this is a strength as all of these things will attract more customers to buy our magazine as our USP is being advertised of the front whilst also letting our target customers know all the good things that they will gain and have access to which will attract customers to buy the magazine as they want to see whats inside.

One of the weaknesses of my magazine is that in my puff I used white on yellow, this is an issue as it makes the white writing of the yellow puff hard to read which is bad as the puff is advertising the competition to the customers and the use of colours mean that our target customers are less likely to know about this competition as they cannot read this and this will overall affect how many people buy our magazine since they won't know about this great chance for them to win, as some people may only buy the magazine to be able to enter this competition.

Another weakness of my magazine is that the price of the cover of the magazine is very small and not very noticeable, this is a weakness as potential customers won't notice the price and see that it is relatively affordable and instead assume that it isn't affordable since the price isn't clear and reduce the chances of them buying since the price is hard to find, and none wants to buy a product that they don't know the price of. Furthermore since our target are 15-19 yr olds they won't be as open to spending a lot on a magazine and the uncertainty of the price of our magazine means they won't want to buy it as much.

Double page spread

One of the strengths of my double page spread is that the outline put around the artists helps to make the artists more, this is a positive thing for Reverb magazine as one of our objectives are to help bring recognition to these featured artists and the blue outline around the artists help to separate the artists from the background and helps bring them more into the foreground. The blue outline around the artists also make the entire double page spread look more ordered and neat which will make the double page spread more visually appealing to our target audience, who are creative individuals so this will appeal to them as they will appreciate and like the outline as it makes everything look more put together.

Another strength of my double page spread is that the colour scheme used was very visually appealing and the colours used fit together very well, this is a good thing as it makes the double page spread more appealing to the customer because our customers wouldn't want to buy a magazine which isn't visually appealing to them and our colour scheme uses colours which go very well together. This will increase how many customers will want to buy our magazine as they like the look of it which is one of the things that attracts a customer to your product (what it looks like visually). Another reason why having a good colour scheme is important is because our customers will recognise our brand whenever they see those colours.

One of the weaknesses of my double page spread is that the size of my text isn't that big and should be bigger, this is a problem as it makes the articles on my double page spread harder to read snd will be especially hard for customers who are long sighted and make it very hard for them to read a magazine which they bought. this will most likely result in them not buying another magazine issue, this will become a problem as it will reduce the amount of returning and loyal customers that we will have and will result in a decrease in revenue because having loyal customers is where we'll make most of our money.

Our final weakness of the double page spread it that we didn't include a Skyline, this is a weakness as it means that the top of our double page spread it more empty than wed like it to be and the readers eyes won't be drawn to that section of the magazine which, will affect us negatively as the section where the Skyline should be is above the band Scorpios name, meaning that the reader is more likely to to have their attention drawn to the main image and won't know what the name of the featured artists are and won't give these upcoming bands the recognition we intended for them to receive.
